The H.C. Burliegh Archives
Dr. H.C. Burleigh was the Genealogist of the Bay of Quinte Branch UELAC when the Branch received its Charter in 1956. For over 20 years, Dr. Burleigh collected information on families throughout the region and Queen's University Archives now has many of his Papers in its collection. The finding aid to that collection can be found here. What many researchers do not know is that much of Queen's material are but the rough notes for the finished applications that are in the collection of the United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre.
Our Archives encompasses all the resources a genealogist needs to research individuals and families in the Midlands District. At the core of the archives are our Family Files and Family Books. These resources have been developed over the years by independent researchers and by staff and Branch Genealogists who regularly update them as new information and links are discovered. There are over 1200 different family files.
Our online archive includes both our museum artifacts and our library holdings.
We also offer an online database of family trees that includes 100,000 individuals. This database is being updated on a regular basis and gaps do exist. If you come across a link that leads to a error message you have found one of these gaps.
At the museum, we have a seperate computer-based database that includes over 150,000 individuals and this is also accessible by the public at one of our archive computer terminals.
